Bicycle parts from China: cycling nation Germany already buys there — the only question is how well tested
Handlebars, saddles, racks, lighting, bags, e-bike accessories: almost every component on a German bicycle comes from Asia. We connect you directly to the factories — with ISO 4210 load testing, road-law checks on lighting and clean battery handling.
The three bike import risks
Bicycles carry people in traffic — the testing depth must match that.
Load-bearing parts without fatigue testing
Handlebars, stems and seatposts do not fail on the first ride but after 10,000 load cycles. The ISO 4210 series defines exactly these fatigue tests — we have them performed and documented.
E-bike batteries & chargers
Batteries need UN 38.3 transport reports and serious cell quality (brand instead of no-name cells); chargers need CE with LVD/EMC. Fire incidents ruin retailers — we only buy documented quality.
Standards & compatibility
Clamp diameters, headset standards, axle formats: the bicycle is a compatibility minefield. We check dimensions on samples against target standards — “does not fit” returns are avoidable.
What we handle for bike retailers
Fatigue & load testing
ISO 4210 testing for load-bearing parts, spoke tension on wheelsets, torque checks — on samples and by sampling per batch.
Electronics accessory expertise
Computers, GPS mounts, light power banks: the compliance logic from electronics accessories (CE, RED, batteries) applies on the bike just the same.
Accessory private label
Bags, fenders, tools, care products under your brand: high-margin and low-return — we build the line with you.
CNC parts for the range
Machined chainrings, spacers, specials to drawing: our machining pipeline is available for bicycle components too.
How your bike parts import runs
Send a parts list or references — we check manufacturers, standards situation and prices.
Samples with dimensional, load and compatibility testing — released by you.
Production with AQL inspection; battery documents (UN 38.3) secured in parallel.
Shipping including dangerous goods handling — DDP to your warehouse.
Common questions about bike parts
Which bicycle parts need approval in Germany?
Active lighting (headlights, rear lights, dynamos) needs an official approval mark (K-number, wave line); reflectors must be type-approved. Most other parts need no approval but are safety-relevant — there ISO 4210 testing replaces the authority. E-bike drives up to 25 km/h/250 W count as bicycles (EN 15194); anything above becomes a motor vehicle with entirely different duties — we advise retailers without automotive structures against it.
Can carbon parts also be imported?
Yes — China manufactures carbon for half the industry. But: for load-bearing carbon parts (handlebars, seatposts, frames) we only buy from factories with in-house test benches and documented ISO 4210 fatigue tests per production run, not just per model. The price difference to aluminium is often less than what a single recall costs — we do that calculation with you honestly.
Is direct import worthwhile versus industry wholesalers?
For brand components (drivetrains, brakes) no — the distribution channels are closed. For accessories, bags, workshop supplies, private label parts and everything the wholesalers themselves buy in China and pass on with 40–100 % markup: clearly yes. That is exactly the gap we fill.
