Sports products from China: load is measurable — we measure it before you sell
Dumbbells and resistance bands, yoga mats, tents, sleeping pads, trekking gear: sports and outdoor products get physically stressed and weathered outdoors. We test load capacity, seams, materials and restricted substances — before your customers do.
The three sports import risks
With sports products, physics decides your reviews — and chemistry your legal safety.
Load capacity merely claimed
“Rated to 150 kg” is quickly written in a listing. We test benches, pull-up bars and slacklines with a defined test setup and safety factor — guided by EN ISO 20957 for stationary training equipment.
Harmful substances in mats & grips
Yoga mats, grips and neoprene regularly draw criticism for PAHs and phthalates. We test skin-contact materials to REACH and the strict German AfPS GS values.
Outdoor gear that fails within a season
Hydrostatic head, UV resistance, seam sealing: we verify tent and outdoor claims on samples — and watch the new PFAS restrictions on water repellents.
What we handle for sports retailers
Load & endurance testing
Breaking load, cycle endurance, seam strength, mat slip resistance — per product-type test plan, with a report before shipment.
Sports textiles & performance fabrics
Leggings, jerseys, performance shirts: grammage, elastane recovery and OEKO-TEX run through our textile expertise — in the same project.
Fitness private label
Colours, logo, packaging and set composition: fitness basics are ideal private label products with high repurchase rates.
Seasonal goods on time
Camping sells in May, not September: we plan production and shipping windows backwards from your sales launch.
How your sports import runs
Send a product list with target prices — we check manufacturers and standard requirements per article.
Samples with load and material testing — released by you.
Production with AQL inspection; substance testing per batch for skin-contact articles.
DDP delivery — scheduled backwards from your season window.
Common questions about sports products
Which standards apply to fitness equipment?
Stationary training equipment falls under the EN ISO 20957 series (safety, stability, endurance); small accessories fall under the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). For German specialist retail, a GS mark is often the decisive listing criterion — we coordinate the testing if your channel requires it.
How do you handle PFAS restrictions on outdoor textiles?
Durable water repellents (DWR) were classically fluorine-based; the EU is restricting PFAS step by step. For coated textiles we require the finish to be declared, prefer PFAS-free DWR alternatives and lab-test where needed — so your goods remain sellable in 2026 and beyond.
From what volumes is importing worthwhile?
Small equipment and accessories (bands, mats, grips) from about €3,000–5,000 order value; bulky items like benches or tents rather from half containers due to sea freight. Weight articles (dumbbells, kettlebells) are a special case: the material share makes China almost always significantly cheaper despite freight.
