A typical project flow, summarized in anonymized form: critical wear parts for a running machine are no longer available — the OEM has discontinued the series. Buying new machinery would cost many times more than remanufacturing the parts.
Starting situation
Only used parts and an incomplete drawing existed; material and hardness specs were missing. European manufacturers declined the small batch or quoted prices that would have made continued operation uneconomical. Needed: a manufacturer producing small batches economically — with verifiable, documented dimensional accuracy.
Approach
From used parts and the remaining drawing, measurement and material analysis produced a complete manufacturing drawing with tolerances and hardness specs. Two machining companies with suitable equipment were audited; drawings went to the approached factories only under an NNN agreement.
First articles were checked against the drawing with a measurement report and tested in real operation. After release came the small batch with AQL control; a blanket order with call-offs has secured supply since — delivered DDP to the plant.

- Continued operation of the existing machinery secured — without investing in replacement machines.
