Importing tools from China: hardness, safety and range under control

Hand tools, tool sets, power tools, measuring tools, hardware store and garden products: China manufactures from discounter to professional level. We find the factory that matches your positioning — and verify hardness, safety and compliance before anything ships.

Where tool imports fail

Tools are bought to be stressed — weaknesses show at the customer, not in the catalogue photo.

Steel without hardening

A bit that rounds off, a wrench that bends open: the difference lies in steel grade and heat treatment. We define material and hardness (HRC) and have samples measured.

Power tools without documentation

Power tools need CE under the Machinery Directive, EMC and possibly radio testing (cordless tools with Bluetooth). We only buy from manufacturers with complete, valid test reports.

PAHs in grips

Soft black plastic grips are the classic source of PAH findings by market surveillance. We test grips and cables risk-based — against the strict German AfPS GS values.

What we handle for tool retailers

Factory selection by quality level

The same pliers exist in three quality levels from three regions. We choose the factory to match your positioning — auditing forge, hardening and final inspection.

Hardness & function testing

HRC measurement, torque testing, endurance tests on mechanisms, AQL visual inspection — documented per batch before shipping.

Own tool brand

Your logo on tools and cases, your colours, your packaging: private label tool brands achieve much better margins than resale goods — we build them with you.

Accessories & consumables

Bits, drills, saw blades, abrasives: the consumables business alongside the tools — consolidated in the same shipment.

How your tool import runs

01

Send an article list or reference products — we propose factories per quality level.

02

Samples with hardness measurement and function testing — released by you.

03

Production with batch inspection; compliance documents for power tools in parallel.

04

Seaworthy packaging, DDP delivery to your warehouse — with an EU-compliant invoice.

Common questions about tools from China

Do tools from China need a GS mark?

It is not mandatory — the GS mark is voluntary. But in German retail, especially for power tools and brick-and-mortar channels, it is a strong selling point and lowers your liability risk. Testing runs via approved bodies such as TÜV or Dekra; we coordinate it with the manufacturer if your sales channel demands it.

How do I distinguish quality levels when buying?

By measurable criteria instead of adjectives: steel grade (e.g. CrV, S2 for bits), hardness in HRC, the factory’s manufacturing depth (own forge and hardening?), surface finish and jaw width tolerances. Exactly these points go into our specification and are measured on samples and in the batch.

Are tool cases and sets also worthwhile?

Sets are actually the crown discipline of China imports: assembly and kitting effort makes them expensive in Europe, cheap in China. A 108-piece case with your brand achieves purchase prices unthinkable in EU wholesale — with controlled quality of every single piece via our inspection plan.
