Common questions about packaging from China
What do I need to know about German packaging law?
Whoever first places packaged goods or carrier bags on the German market commercially must register in the LUCID register before the first sale and license the packaging volumes with a dual system. This also applies to imported shipping and product packaging. We supply material type and weights per delivery — making the filing a matter of minutes.
From what quantities is printed packaging from China worthwhile?
Cotton bags from about 1,000–2,000 pieces, printed boxes from about 3,000–5,000, paper bags from 5,000 — below that, European printers are usually competitive, especially under time pressure. For fabric bags, China is almost always significantly cheaper. We show you the honest calculation.
Is food-grade packaging possible?
Yes — with factories that can demonstrate food contact conformity under Regulation (EU) 10/2011 and framework Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 (migration testing). We select such manufacturers and have declarations of conformity plus test reports supplied per batch — additional German LFGB testing on request.
